
Blow’s Clutch Performance Leads Aggies Over Mississippi State, 68-64

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M women's basketball team defeated Mississippi State, 68-64, behind Salese Blow's clutch-time performance Thursday night inside Reed Arena.
The Aggies (13-11, 6-9 SEC) were led by Ny'Ceara Pryor and Fatmata Janneh as the duo each recorded their fourth double-double in a row. Pryor tallied 16 Points and 11 assists and now stands as the first SEC player since the turn of the century to record four straight double-doubles in league play with points and assists. Janneh followed, up with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Blow iced the game with seven of her nine points in the final two minutes of the contest.
Janae Kent recorded her 12th double-digit performance of the season with 11 points after going 2-of-4 from beyond the arc to go with five rebounds. Lauren Ware played a season-high 35 minutes and scored seven points to go along with three blocks and a career-high matching three steals.
The Aggie offense got out to a quick 11-2 lead in the first 6:11 of the game behind a plethora of 3-pointers from Janneh, Kent and Lemyah Hylton. Mississippi State (18-11, 5-10 SEC) was able to hold the Maroon & White scoreless over the last 3:21 of the quarter, using an 8-0 run to tie things up at 12 to end the period.
The Bulldogs carried their momentum over into the second frame, taking their largest lead, 21-14, at the 6:09 mark. The Aggies used a 6-0 run over a 2:52 to cut the deficit to one, 22-21, and closed out the quarter by knotting up the score, 25-25. Pryor paced the offense with six points, five assists and two steals in the first half.
The third quarter started as a seesaw affair as both teams matched scoring efforts until Mississippi State used an 8-0 run over a 3:12 period to jump out to a 44-35 advantage. A 3-pointer from Hylton and an and-one from Kent got the Aggies back to within five, 46-41, entering the final frame.
The Aggie offense came out firing in the fourth quarter, as Pryor recorded nine points, including a huge 3-pointer to cut the deficit down to just one, 53-52, with 6:33 remaining in the game. Texas A&M jumped out to their largest lead of the half as Blow caught fire with seven clutch points in the final 2:02 of the game to push the Aggies to a 68-64 victory over the Bulldogs. The Aggies shot 69.2% in the fourth quarter as they outscored Mississippi State 27-18 in the frame. Mississippi State's Madison Francis scored a game-high 19 points but was held scoreless by the Maroon & White defense in the final period.
Texas A&M travels for its regular season finale at No. 19 Ole Miss at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
