
No. 4 Aggies Gear Up for Pair of Road Matches

NASHVILLE – The No. 4 Texas A&M women's tennis team hits the road for a pair of matches, first facing Vanderbilt Friday at the Currey Tennis Center before traveling to Missouri for Sunday matchup at the Mizzou Tennis Center. Match times are 2:30 p.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively.
The Aggies enter the weekend with a 9-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. The Maroon & White own a 1-1 record away from home and are coming off a thrilling 4-3 win over the No. 10 Texas Longhorns. Texas A&M secured three singles courts behind wins from No. 5 Lucciana Perez, Violeta Martinez and freshmen Ilinca Amariei to clinch the dual.
Perez enters action with a 10-0 record in dual action with her last four wins coming against players ranked in the top 25. Violate Martinez paces the team in wins, owning a 13-7 record, including a 7-3 mark in dual play.
Friday marks the 26th all-time meeting between Texas A&M and Vanderbilt with series tied 13-13. The Maroon & White have won nine of the last 10 meetings. The Aggies claimed the most recent matchup earlier this season at the ITA National Indoor Championships, earning a 4-2 victory.
The Commodores bring an 11-2 record into the contest and ride a six-match winning streak after a 6-1 victory over Missouri. Vanderbilt features four ranked singles players, including No. 15 Valeria Ray, No. 34 Celia-Belle Mohr, No. 42 Bridget Stammel and No. 69 Mia Yamakita.
In doubles, The Commodores boast the No. 2 ranked duo of Moher/Webster as well as two more ranked pairings of No. 10 Ray/Stammel and No. 64 Pearce/Yamakita.
Sunday marks the 33rd all-time meeting between the Aggies and the Tigers, with the Maroon & White holding a commanding 30-2 advantage in the series, including a current seven-match winning streak. The last meeting came in 2025 where Texas A&M swept Missouri, 4-0. The Tigers are 8-3 overall and 0-1 in SEC action.
