
Hacopian, Partida Named to Baseball America National Award Watchlists

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – A pair of Texas A&M baseball student-athletes were tabbed to the inaugural Baseball America preseason national award watchlists, announced by the publication Tuesday.
Junior infielder Chris Hacopian was selected to the Preseason College Player of the Year Watchlist, and freshman two-way player Nico Partida was named to the Preseason College Freshman of the Year Watchlist.
Hacopian, a Baseball America Preseason Third-Team All-American, joins the batting lineup in Aggieland after strengthening the offense at Maryland the past two years. In 52 starts last season, he slashed .375/.502/.656 with 14 home runs and 61 RBI, while also posting an impressive 40 walks against just 19 strikeouts.
Across his two-year collegiate career, Hacopian owns a .347 batting average and a 1.080 OPS, totaling 29 home runs and 22 doubles. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound infielder has driven in 103 runs and scored 104 more, earning All-Big Ten honors in back-to-back seasons and an ABCA All-East Region First Team recognition in 2025.
Partida, the 2025 VYPE Texas Player of the Year, joins the Aggies following a dominant career at Pearland High School as both a pitcher and an infielder. In his senior season, Partida recorded a 4-1 record on the mound with a 0.70 ERA and limited opponents to a .176 batting average against. At the plate, he logged an outstanding .480 batting average with eight home runs, while also swiping 22 stolen bases.
Over his high school career, Partida was named District 23-6A Most Valuable Player and earned Texas Class 6A All-State First Team honors three consecutive seasons. The Manvel, Texas, native was also honored as the Texas State Semi-Final MVP in consecutive seasons from 2024-25.
Texas A&M begins the 2026 season Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. for a three-game series against Tennessee Tech at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
