BIRMINGHAM – A trio of Aggies were selected to the 2026 Preseason All-SEC Team, as voted on by the league's 16 head coaches Thursday.
First baseman Gavin Grahovac and outfielder Caden Sorrell were named to the first team, while right-handed reliever Clayton Freshcorn was tabbed to the second team.
Grahovac, ranked as the No. 26 draft prospect by MLB Pipeline, enters his junior season after starting in just six games last year before suffering a season-ending injury. He burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2024, posting a .298/.390/.596 slash line with a Texas A&M single-season freshman record 23 home runs. The Orange, California, native recorded a total of 23 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI performances. As the one-hole hitter for the Maroon & White, Grahovac has drilled five leadoff home runs, including a round-tripper to begin the first game of the College World Series Final, becoming the first player in NCAA history to accomplish the feat.
Following his standout rookie campaign, Grahovac was honored as the 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year and was recognized as a Freshman All-American by four different publications.
Sorrell, ranked as MLB Pipeline's No. 20 draft prospect, also rejoins the Aggie lineup following an injury-shortened 2025 season. In 26 starts last year, he slashed .337/.430/.789 with 12 home runs, five doubles and 32 RBI. Sorrell registered 11 multi-RBI contests and was honored as the Marion Pugh Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Across 88 career games in Aggieland, Sorrell owns a steady .296 batting average to complement 23 home runs, 67 runs scored and 75 RBI. The Highland Village, Texas, native adds to his list of preseason accolades after being named a Preseason All-American by three different publications.
Freshcorn made 23 appearances out of the bullpen last year for the Maroon & White in 2025, logging a 4.67 ERA. In 27.0 innings pitched, he punched out 33 batters while only issuing nine walks. Over his final five outings of the season, Freshcorn pitched 8.1 innings and allowed just two hits, no earned runs and struck out 11 hitters. The righty recorded two saves during his sophomore campaign, including the final out against No. 8 Auburn in the second round of the SEC Tournament.
The Aggies were picked to finish 13th in the conference by the other 15 head coaches in the league.
Texas A&M baseball opens the 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. against Tennessee Tech from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
