Filzen, Stone Advance to NCAA Zone D Finals on Day Two

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M sophomores Gabby Filzen and Nathan Stone advanced to the finals of their respective events but fell just short of qualifying for the national meet on day two of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships Tuesday at the Rec Center Natatorium.
Filzen, from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, logged her season best of 299.95 in the women's 3m dive prelims finished with a 12-dive score of 576.55 to place 14th. Only the top 10 finishers in the women's 3m received NCAA berths.
Stone, from Southlake, Texas, advanced to the men's 1m dive final after producing a 299.85 score in the prelims. Once in the final, Stone logged a season-best 331.40 for an 11th place finish with a cumulative point total of 631.25. Only the top seven finishers advanced to the NCAA Championships.
In other action, Bridget Foster, Joslyn Oakley and Julie Moons finished 22nd, 23rd and 24th, respectively, in the women's 3m dive.
