Mar 16, 2026 | Softball
BATON ROUGE – The No. 16 Texas A&M softball dropped the series finale at No. 17 LSU, 7-2, Monday night, a day after clinching the series at Tiger Park.
Texas A&M (19-9, 2-1 SEC) committed multiple fielding errors and issued several free bases as LSU (19-9, 1-2 SEC) capitalized with multiple crooked innings. Kennedy Powell led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Micaela Wark went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Mya Perez drew four walks.
Sydney Lessentine took the loss, tossing 4.0 innings with six strikeouts while allowing three runs on four hits and one walk.
The Aggies applied early pressure as Powell reached second on a fielding error by the right fielder. She advanced to third on a foul out, and Perez and Ariel Kowalewski drew consecutive walks to load the bases. LSU escaped the jam, stranding all three runners with a pair of infield popups.
The Tigers struck first with a two-out solo home run in the second inning. LSU capitalized on multiple Aggie miscues in the fourth to extend its lead to 3-0.
Texas A&M got on the board in the fifth when Powell singled to left and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Wark to cut the deficit to 3-1.
LSU pushed its lead to 7-1 with four runs on three hits in the sixth inning.
Powell doubled in the seventh and scored her second run on a two-out single up the middle by Wark. Kowalewski followed with a single through the left side to load the bases, but a strikeout ended the rally and the game at 7-2.
UP NEXT
Texas A&M returns to Aggieland to host Kentucky in a three-game set beginning Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at Davis Diamond.
