Owens Earns All-America Honors at the NCAA Championships

ATLANTA – Texas A&M's Kaitlyn Owens earned All-America honors in the 100-yard backstroke to highlight the Aggies' third day at the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Owens, a senior from College Station, Texas, placed 12th in her specialty race with a time of 51.22, which was just off her season and lifetime best. It was the second honorable mention All-America honor of the meet and fourth of her career in the maroon and white.
Owens also led off the Aggies' 400 medley relay that cleaved more than a second off its season best with a time of 3:31.21. The foursome of Owens, graduate Claire Gass, junior Ava Whitaker and sophomore Ella McQuinn just missed All-America honors with a 17th place finish.
In other action, junior Hannah O'Leary placed 27th in the 400 IM with a time of 2:10.77.
After three days of action, the Aggies are in 27th place in the team standing with 16.5 points. Virginia has the lead with 437.5 points heading in the final day, followed by Texas (272.0), Stanford (242.5), Tennessee (240.5) and Michigan (228.0) to round out the top five.
