
Trevino Becomes Aggies’ First Platform Dive National Champion

ATLANTA – Texas A&M's Emilio Trevino won the program's first platform dive national title to highlight the Aggies' fourth and final day at the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Georgia Tech's campus.
Trevino, from Monterrey, Mexico, scored a season-best 465.30 to outclass the NCAA field, topping the next highest finisher by over 14 points. The freshman posted 70-point plus scores on five-of-six dives and close out his dominating victory with scores of 85.00 and 92.50 on his final two efforts. He became the first freshman to win a NCAA crown in program history.
Also in action on Saturday was junior Logan Brown, who finished 18th in the 200-yard IM in 1:42.69. In the 400 freestyle relay, the quartet of sophomore Ben Sytsma, junior Ben Scholl, Brown and freshman Alejandro Michelena placed 15th with a time of 2:49.55. Senior Matthew Aigner also competed on the platform dive and finished 40th in prelims with a total score of 280.75.
The Aggies placed 30th in the team standings with 28 points.
