LAFAYETTE – The Texas A&M men's golf team built an eight-stroke lead after Monday's two rounds at the Louisiana Classics.
The Aggies registered loops of 10-under 278 and 13-under 275 at the par-72, 6,898-yard Oakbourne Country Club. With their two-round tally of 23-under 553, Ol' Sarge's charges lead second-place Little Rock (-15). Michigan (-14), Lamar (-13) and East Tennessee State (-10) round out the top five.

Parmar, who is playing as an individual, completed both circuits in 3-under 69. Parmar logged five birdies in the first round and added three in the second. Pounds posted an opening round 2-under 70 with five birdies. He followed with a bogey-free round of 4-under 68.
Alex Long and Jaime Montojo enter Tuesday's action in tied for 14th place at 5-under 139. They penciled in identical scores of 70 and 69.

TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach Brian Kortan
On the strong contributions from the entire team...
"We really did a good job on the par-4s today. That allowed us to string together a good number of birdies. It was a good day and they scored well. Any time you a bunch of scores in the 60s it's a good thing. So they did enough good things well to put good scores on the board.
On the message to the team on closing out the tournament strong...
"Our message rarely wavers. We want to do us. We want to do the things we do well. There are a few things they need to clean up – a few things we weren't really happy with today. Going into any round one of our goals is always to have the low score, so that won't change tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it."
