Track & Field Set to Host 44 Farms Team Invitational

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Track & Field team returns to E.B. Cushing Stadium to host with the 44 Farms Team Invitational, April 9-11.
The Maroon & White gear up for their first of two collegiate track meets in Aggieland this outdoor season and opens with the fourth Iteration of the 44 Farms Team Invitational. The meet features an action-packed three-day schedule with over 30 teams in attendance.
Rolling into the fourth week of the outdoor season, A&M is well represented in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings as the men stand at No. 3 nationally and the women land at No. 6.
Last Time Out
The Maroon & White continued in action at the Battle on the Bayou as the group broke one school record, won two events and added six all-time marks to the Texas A&M record-book. Getting the weekend rolling was Camryn Dickson in the 200m, as she secured the event title with a mark of 22.69, while Sam Hankins dominated in the field claiming his second-straight Javelin title this season with a throw of 73.53m/241-03. Henry Zimmerman carried his record-breaking performances into the outdoor season, taking down the men's hammer throw all-time best with a toss of 66.84m/219-3.
The A&M record book saw another four additions and one alteration while in Baton Rouge, as Jayla Hooper climbed from No. 5 to No. 4 with a personal-best mark in the hammer throw of 60.72m/199-2. The 1,500m duo of Sophia Bendet and Peter Narumbe made their outdoor record book debuts. Bendet crossed the line with a personal-best time of 4:21.69 to enter the list on the women's side at No. 7, while Narumbe entered at No. 8 on the men's side with a mark of 3:43.83. Reece Sharman-Newell recorded a time of 1:46.57 in the men's 800m entering at No. 9, and Lawson Jacobs rounded out the group running the 12th fastest time in the 400m of 45.12.
Top-Ranked Aggies
The Aggie men hold five top-five marks in the country, Etoro Bassey in the men's high jump (2.19m/7-2.25) and the men's 4x400m relay team (3:01.62) both rank second nationally. Ja'Qualon Scott in the 110m hurdles (13.36) and Jacobs in the 400m (45.12) rank third, while Reece Sharman-Newell in the 800m (1:46.57) ranks fourth.
The women also have five athletes who rank in the top-five nationally in their respective events. Dickson in the 200m (22.69), Jaiya Covington in the 100m hurdles (12.79) and Debora Cherono in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:56.45) all rank second. Katelyn Fairchild in the javelin (56.59m/184-8) and the women's 4x100m relay team (43.09) rank fourth.

Austin, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tulane, UL-Monroe, UT-Arlington, UTRGV, UT-Tyler, UTSA, Vanderbilt (W), Wichita State and Yale.
