
Trio of Aggies Selected as Semifinalists for Dick Howser Trophy

DALLAS – Texas A&M's Gavin Grahovac, Aiden Sims and Caden Sorrell were named semifinalists for the 2026 Dick Howser Trophy, as announced by the Dick Howser Trophy Committee in conjunction with the National College Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) Thursday afternoon. The prestigious award has been given to the top player in college baseball based on two rounds of national voting by NCBWA members.
Texas A&M is one of four schools in the country to have three or more players selected as semifinalists. This year's 48 candidates come from 12 different NCAA Division I conferences and 31 different schools. The SEC led the country with 15 semifinalists.
Grahovac has sparked the offense, starting in all 49 games so far this season for the Maroon & White. He leads the clubs in a plethora of offensive categories, including batting average (.354), runs scored (65), hits (70), RBI (68), doubles (15) and triples (3). In the national ranks, the righty ranks 14th with 65 runs and ninth with 68 RBI. Grahovac leads all Aggie hitters with 23 multi-hit and 19 multi-RBI performances. His 42 career home runs in the Maroon & White are tied for seventh-most in program history.
Sims has been the most effective starter for Texas A&M this season, logging an 8-1 record with a 3.84 ERA in 13 starts. He leads the Maroon & White with 73 strikeouts and his .213 batters average against is the lowest among Aggie starters. In conference games, Sims boasts a 5-1 record with 48 punchouts. The Forney, Texas, native has registered four quality starts and owns the only complete game shutout performance for the Maroon & White this season.
Sorrell is in the midst of a career year in 2026, setting personal bests in hits (66), runs (59), RBI (65), home runs (22), doubles (15) and stolen bases (10). His 22 home runs on the year are the sixth-most in program history and upped his career total to 45, which ranks fifth on Texas A&M's all-time leaderboard. Nationally, Sorrell is tied for eighth in home runs and 15th in RBI. His .758 slugging percentage and 10 stolen bases lead all Aggie hitters, and he ranks second on the squad with 21 multi-hit and 18 multi-RBI performances.
The 2026 Dick Howser Trophy will be presented at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, the home of the College World Series, for the 14th year. The winner will be revealed on MLB Network at 9:30 a.m. CDT prior to the Friday, June 12, news conference in Omaha at 10 a.m. in the Schwab Field Media Room.
