COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team strengthened its goalkeeping corps with the addition of Adelaide Paredes, head coach Bobby Shuttleworth announced Thursday.
"We're excited to welcome Adelaide to the Texas A&M soccer program," Shuttleworth said. "She arrives with valuable experience, having already started college soccer matches."
Paredes joins the Aggies after playing her sophomore season at St. Bonaventure. With the Bonnies, all seven of her starts came in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Appearing in 12 matches, she led the team with 765 minutes in goal while recording 53 saves."
"She is a goalkeeper with excellent shot-stopping ability, consistently showing sharp instincts and quick reactions to handle difficult saves," Shuttleworth said. "She also has a proven ability to deliver in key moments, coming up with big saves when it matters most."
In her rookie campaign, Paredes played every minute as goalkeeper for Mount St. Mary's. She recorded six shutouts, 89 saves, a .788 save percentage and a 1.33 goals-against average in 1,620 minutes.
Paredes has represented Portugal on the international stage at the U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels. She played in three Euro U17 qualifiers in 2023, including wins over Sweden and Portugal.
She prepped at East Side high School in Newark, New Jersey. She earned All-Super Essex Conference First Team honors in 2020 and 2021 while serving as a two-year varsity captain for the Red Raiders.
"Adelaide is comfortable in possession and brings confidence and composure on the ball, allowing her to contribute to the team's build-up and support the attack." Shuttleworth said. "We're thrilled to add her to our squad. She strengthens our goalkeeping unit and adds valuable competition within the group, which is essential for our continued growth and success. We're looking forward to seeing her develop and make an impact here at Texas A&M."
