Aggies Claim Four ITA Texas Regional Awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – The national champion Texas A&M Aggies earned four ITA Texas Regional Awards as announced Wednesday.
Lucciana Perez claimed two ITA Texas Regional Awards for Most Improved Player and Player to Watch. Mia Kupres pulled in accolades as ITA Texas Regional Senior of the Year. Mark Weaver was named ITA/Dunlop Texas Regional Coach of the Year.
Perez has been filling her trophy case this season, earning the Honda Sports Award for tennis and the SEC Player of the Year. She finished one of the best athletics seasons in Texas A&M history and stood No. 1 on the end of the season ITA singles rankings. Perez helped the Aggies claim their second NCAA women's tennis title in the last three years along with winning their fifth consecutive SEC regular-season crown. The junior registered Texas A&M's first-ever undefeated season. She posted a 28-0 singles record, including a 13-0 record in SEC regular season matches. Perez logged a 7-0 record in matches against ITA top 10 opponents.
Kupres finished the year ranked No. 30. She battled through an injury early in the season to post a 17-10 singles record. She tallied six ranked wins on the season, including five of top-25 victories. Kupres also posted 16 victories in doubles play with eight ranked wins. She paired with Perez to post three top 10 victories during the dual season. The Edmonton, Alberta, product qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships in both singles and doubles during the fall campaign. She paired with Daria Smetannikov to claim a pot in doubles play and in singles she advanced to the round of 32.
Weaver claimed his fourth ITA Texas Regional Coach of the Year recognition. He also claimed the honor in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Weaver also took home ITA Texas Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2014. He reached the 250-win plateau during the campaign. It wrapped up with the Aggies' second national championship and fifth consecutive SEC regular season title.
