Davis Scores in Long Jump; Aggies Advance Three to Finals on Second Day of NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE – Texas A&M track & field's Morgan Davis scored in the long jump, while the women's team secured three finals spots on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday at Hayward Field.
Davis got the Aggie women on the board, as the SEC indoor and outdoor long jump champion took her success to the national stage and placed seventh. She leapt 6.52m/21-4.75 in the second round which earned her First Team All-Americas status and secured two points for the team total.
The women's 4x100m relay group wasted no time booking the first spot to Saturday's finals, as the quartet of Anya Jackson, Camryn Dickson, Aysha Shaheed and Jasmine Montgomery earned automatic advancement after taking second in heat one. The group crossed the line in a season-best time of 42.52 which moved them up from No. 6 to No. 3 in the Aggies' all-time performers list.
Jaiya Covington continued the momentum on the track, as the senior earned her qualification out of heat three of the 100m hurdles. She clocked 12.90 and returns to the final for the second-straight year.
Dickson doubled down on her finals schedule of events, as she won the second heat of the women's 200m with a time of 22.22. Her mark was good for third overall in the contest. Jackson and Montgomery finished 13th (22.89) and 14th (22.92), respectively, in the event to each garner All-America Second Team accolades.
The sister duo of McKenzie Fairchild and Katelyn Fairchild each garnered All-America status, landing on the second team in the javelin. The pair finished behind one another, as McKenzie was 13th with a throw of 51.13m/167-9, while Katelyn was 14th after a mark of 51.10m/167-8.
Blake Harris concluded his decathlon campaign, racking up 7,407 points across the 10-event series to place 15th. He carried 3,779 points into the final day and logged a first-place result in the 110m hurdles in 14.08, 17th in the discus (40.25m/125-0), 15th in the pole vault (4.31m/14-1.75), fourth in the javelin (58.31m/191-3) and 18th in the 1,500m (4:57.06) to conclude his competition.
Montgomery and Dickson added Second Team All-America honors to their day, as the pair finished 15th (11.16) and 16th (11.17), respectively, in the 100m.
Rounding out the results on the day was the women's 4x400m team consisting of Jahnile Registre, Dickson, Montgomery and Lacarthea Cooper. The group crossed the line in 3:30.92 to place 14th and earn Second Team recognition.
