TEMPE, Ariz. – Texas A&M's Lucciana Perez and Mark Weaver earned recognition as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its women's national award winners Tuesday.
Perez was tabbed ITA Player to Watch while Weaver was honored as the ITA/Dunlop National Coach of the Year.
The trophy case has filled up for Perez this spring. Last week she became the second Aggie player to earn the Honda Sports Award for Tennis. She also claimed SEC Player of the Year and ITA All-America status. Perez wrapped up the campaign as the No. 1 player in the nation, joining Mary Stoiana as the only Aggies to reach the peak.
Perez finished one of the best athletics seasons in Texas A&M history. She helped the Aggies claim their second NCAA women's tennis title in the last three years along with winning their fifth consecutive SEC regular-season crown. The junior registered A&M's first-ever undefeated season. She posted a 28-0 singles record, including 13-0 in SEC regular season matches. She logged a perfect 7-0 record in matches against ITA Top 10 opponents.
Weaver earned his first ITA National Coach of the Year honor after claiming his fourth ITA Texas Regional Coach of the Year recognition. He also claimed the honor in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Weaver also took home ITA Texas Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2014. He reached the 250-win plateau during the campaign. It wrapped up with the Aggies' second national championship and fifth consecutive SEC regular season title.
