
Sorrell Named NCBWA District VII Player of the Year

DALLAS – Texas A&M outfielder Caden Sorrell was selected as co-District VII Player of the Year, as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Friday morning. Sorrell shares the District VII honor with Texas' Dylan Volantis.
In the 2026 campaign, Sorrell produced a .341/.434/.743 slash line to go along with a team-best 76 RBI, which stands as the eighth most in a single season in program history. The Highland Village, Texas, native smacked 20 doubles and 23 home runs, becoming the first player to slug 20 or more doubles and home runs in club history since Daylan Holt in 1999. Along with impressive slugging numbers, Sorrell led the squad with 11 stolen bases.
The junior outfielder has etched his name into Texas A&M's all-time record books, ranking 10th with 151 RBI and sixth with 46 home runs in his career.
Sorrell has garnered a number of accolades this season, including his selection as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award. The lefty slugger was tabbed to the All-SEC First Team, as well as the All-SEC Defensive Team.
District VII includes all schools in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
