Texas A&M Football has seen its share of great players come through the program. But few have experienced the game like Gary Kubiak.
In his playing days he was a quarterback for the Aggies, his final season coming just after the arrival of Jackie Sherrill as head coach in 1983. Then, he spent nine years in the National Football League, all with the Denver Broncos, sharing the quarterbacks room with Hall of Famer John Elway.
After retiring as a player, his first coaching job put him in charge of the running backs at A&M in 1992 and 1993. It was there he led one of the greatest position groups in program history.
However, it was as a coach in the NFL where Kubiak supplanted his name among the game's greats. His experiences cover the entire spectrum, from struggles to success, he went through it all. And ultimately, it was a moment of reflection on top of a hill on his ranch that started his journey to the summit of the sport -- Super Bowl champion head coach.
