Garrett concluded his Texas A&M career as one of the most decorated and disruptive defenders in school history. Garrett became the ninth player in school history to earn unanimous first-team All-America honors in 2016, and he also was a finalist for the Bednarik and Rotary Lombardi Awards. He led the Aggies with 8.5 quarterback sacks and 15.0 tackles for loss in 2016 and also contributed two forced fumbles and 10 QB hurries. He finished his three-year Texas A&M career with 145 total tackles, including 48.5 tackles for loss and 32.5 QB sacks. He also generated 30 QB pressures and seven forced fumbles.
During his career, Garrett was a Freshman All-American, two-time first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection, two-time first-team All-American and a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award, the Chuck Bednarik Award, Ted Hendricks Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy. He was voted the team's Defensive MVP all three seasons at Texas A&M (he shared the 2016 honor with Justin Evans).
He became the first Aggie to be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft after being selected by the Cleveland Browns in 2017.

• An all-around student-athlete, Garrett is active in Aggies Athletes Involved (AAI) and regularily speaks to young people at various schools around the local community. He has also served as a volunteer at the Twin City Mission, serving meals to needy families and doing landscape work around the facility.

Posted one of the most impressive first seasons by a Texas A&M freshman defender in school history ... led the team in QB sacks (11.5), tackles for loss (14.0) and QB hurries (9), and also was second among defensive linemen with 53 tackles ... posted at least two tackles in every game and had at least a sack in six games ... Garrett’s exploits made him a consensus second-team All-SEC pick, as well as consensus freshman All-American and All-SEC ... named the team’s Defensive MVP at the annual team banquet ... his 11 QB sacks broke the school and SEC freshman record ... Garrett is pursuing his undergraduate degree in university studies with his concentration area in Global Arts, Planning, Design and Construction in the College of Architecture. He also has minors in business administration and geology ... His older sister, Brea Garrett, was a NCAA Champion thrower for the A&M track and field team. His older brother, Sean Williams, has played for several NBA teams and currently plays basketball overseas.
