2011-12 (JUNIOR)
A first-team NCEA All-America selection in horsemanship … became the first
rider in school history in any discipline to earn first-team All-America honors
… named the Big 12’s Rider of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 team
… a two-time Big 12 Rider of the Month selection … won the team's MVP award for horsemanship for the second straight season ... led the entire team in wins
(12) and MVPs (5) … led the western squad in winning percentage (.735) and scoring
average (73.76) … five MVPs on the year ranked second all-time on the
horsemanship single-season charts … set a school record with four straight
horsemanship MVPs (9/23-10/15) … opened the year with four consecutive MVPs in
victories over Delaware State (9/23), Fresno State (9/24), Georgia (10/8) and
New Mexico State (10/15) … also picked up an MVP and set a new career best with
79 points in a victory over Oklahoma State (11/5) … emerged victorious in four
of five postseason rides … defeated Baylor’s Chelsea Retmier (3/30) and Oklahoma
State All-American Lauren Halvorson (3/31) at the Big 12 Championship …
victories over Halvorson and Fresno’s Allison Warkentin at NCEAs helped the
Aggies to the overall national championship and an unprecedented fourth
straight western national title … scored 75 or higher in six regular-season
rides.
2010-11 (SOPHOMORE)
Earned honorable mention All-America accolades from the Varsity Equestrian National Championship committee ... named MVP of the Aggie horsemanship squad ... tied for the western team lead with an 11-3-1 record in horsemanship ... scoring average of 73.90 was the highest of any A&M western rider ... led the team with 4 MVP awards ... closed the year on a 6-show win streak, leading the Aggies to the program’s first Big 12 Championship and the western team’s third straight national title ... averaged 75.5 points per judge in five postseason rides ... tied a school record with three straight MVP honors, coming in wins against Auburn (11/5), Baylor (11/12) and Kansas State (11/20) ... 77-point ride in victory over Baylor (2/12) tied a career high ... also posted regular-season wins over South Carolina (1/28) and Fresno State (3/26), where a 72-point ride earned her MVP No. 4 of the year ... a second-team Academic All-Big 12 At-Large selection ... named a Texas A&M Athletics Scholar Award winner.
2009-10 (FRESHMAN)
Burst onto the collegiate scene with one of the best seasons in school history ... named the team’s western Rookie of the Year ... finished second in the discipline, and second overall on the entire A&M team, with an 18-2-1 record in horsemanship ... earned four MVP awards ... not only helped lead the Aggies to the western national title, but advanced all the way to the individual national championship round before falling to teammate Caroline Gunn ... unbeaten in 15 rides spanning over five months (November-April) ... five rides of 75 points or greater in the regular season, with high mark of 77 ... season average was 73.64, second highest in the discipline ... earned first career MVP in just second career ride, downing Bailey Dymond of Auburn on the road, 73.5-68 (10/16) ... topped Kelsey Huffman at TCU, 75-73.5, for second MVP award ... also earned MVP accolades against Oklahoma State’s Mamie Tomlin (3/6) ... rolled through the postseason, winning both rides at the Big 12 Championship and all three in the Varsity Equestrian National Championships team competition ... was the horsemanship MVP in the Big 12 title match after a 146.5-144 win over Baylor’s Lindsey Tomko in Waco (3/27) ... defeated BU’s Meghan Murphy in the VENC quarterfinals, 145-141.5 (4/15), Georgia’s Lauren Love in the semis, 146.5-145 (4/16) and KSU’s Courtney Watters in the championship match, 151.5-144 (4/17) ... earned the No. 2 seed in the individual horsemanship championship bracket ... knocked off Mikaela Sundgren of K-State in the quarterfinals, 144.5-139, and Huffman of TCU in the semifinals, 144-143 ... met Gunn in the title match, falling 150-147.5 ... longest win streak was nine ... in the summer of 2010, won the western horsemanship title at the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show finals, besting a field of 162 riders in the division.

Carey Allyson Nowacek is the daughter of David and Karen Nowacek of San Antonio ... born January 23, 1991 in San Antonio ... has an older brother, Charlie, and a younger brother, Jack ... majoring in general studies ... a 2009 graduate of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio ... was a three-year letterwinner in softball, earning all-city honors, and also earned a varsity letter in track ... has been riding 11 years, primarily western ... personal trainers are Brad and Stephanie Jewett ... finished second in both western riding and equitation at the 2007 All American Quarter Horse Congress ... placed seventh in western horsemanship at the 2008 All American Quarter Horse Congress ... was the all-around champion at the Florida Gulf Coast competition in both 2008 and 2009 ... enjoys showing horses in her spare time.
