Ended her final season in Aggieland with a 10-7 overall singles record coupled with a 9-3 ledger in dual match play… Made her first start of the season at the No. 4 singles line against Tarleton’s Elsa Boisson, finishing with a 6-2, 6-1 win on opening day… Notched a hard-fought three-set victory against Vanderbilt’s Dasha Kourkina in her first SEC dual match singles opportunity… Recorded her first ranked win of the season in a crucial straight-set victory against No. 117 Ania Hertel of the seventh-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, sparking A&M’s historic sweep… Was 7-1 in SEC singles action on the year.
2021-22 TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Returned to action in the fall of 2021, going 1-4 in tournament singles action with an 0-2 mark in doubles play… Dominated Manasi Reddy of Houston in a 6-0, 6-0 result to open her senior season.
2020-21 (JUNIOR)

2018-19 (FRESHMAN)
Finished second on the team in singles wins, posting a 25-10 overall record with a 16-7 record in dual matches… Played the majority of her matches at the No. 1 line, finishing with a 9-7 record… Went undefeated at the No. 2 line, recording a 7-0 mark… Finished 3-4 in SEC matches, all at the No. 1 line… Longest win streak of the season was nine matches… Recorded the clinch victory in three matches, including the 4-1 win over Texas in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament… Went 20-9 in doubles, including a 15-7 record in dual matches… Was 3-0 in dual matches when paired with Lucia Quiterio.
2018-19 TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Posted a 9-3 singles record and 5-2 doubles record in tournament play… Went 2-1 in singles matches at the Big 5 Challenge in Fort Worth to open the fall slate, topped student-athletes from Arizona and Virginia, was 2-0 in doubles matches alongside Jessica Anzo… Reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Texas Regional before falling to No. 21 Anna Turati of Texas, picking up three singles wins, reached the second round of the doubles draw alongside Dorthea Faa-Hviding… Went 3-0 at the UNLV Rebel Invite in singles to claim the flight 3 singles crown and went 2-1 in doubles play alongside Jessica Anzo.
PERSONAL: Katya Townsend is the daughter of Trenton and Gabriela Townsend, and is one of four children… Has two sisters, Camille and Maia, as well as one brother named Sebastian… Was born in Michigan, but spent her high school years in Coconut Creek, Florida… Tabbed a Blue Chip prospect by TennisRecruiting.net, placing as the No. 21 overall player in the 2018 senior class… Received her Aggie ring in the fall of 2021… Plans to graduate from Texas A&M in the spring of 2022 with a degree in business management… Was a two-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a Texas A&M A.D. academic honoree every year in Aggieland… She hopes to one day play professional tennis and eventually start her own business… In her time away from the court, she enjoys spending time with friends, going to the movies, reading and playing sports.
