Study Hall
Objective Based Study Hall
In order to help student-athletes study efficiently and effectively, we operate an Objective Based Study Hall program. The focus is on successfully completing tasks and studying accomplished during assigned study hall times. This goal-oriented approach helps hold students accountable and creates a measurable way to monitor students’ progress and productivity.
Academic Mentors
The Sinn Academic & Wellness Center employs around 50 part time Academic Mentors who assist student-athletes during their time in study hall. Academic Mentors help student-athletes build the necessary skills to be academically successful. They teach students study skills, learning strategies, time management, and organization skills while spending individual time assisting, quizzing, reviewing, and reading with students. We have Academic Mentors who work both day and evening hours so we can best accommodate all student-athletes’ schedules.
Learning Specialists
Texas A&M has 4 full time Learning Specialists that each work with a caseload of student-athletes. They conduct initial screening of all incoming student-athletes, assist with the arrangement of psychological testing for student-athletes with potential learning concerns, and act as liaisons to Disability Services. The Learning Specialists oversee the coordination and management of the Learning Center and Academic Mentors.
