Women's Basketball | Color Analyst | A&M Radio NetworkTap Bentz joined the Aggie Women's Basketball program as an assistant in 1996. He came to College Station from New Orleans after having a very successful career as a high school girls basketball coach.
The former 3-time Coach of the Year in Louisiana became the lead radio analyst in 2002 after he left the program in 1999 to enter into private business in College Station.
Bentz has become a staple on the Aggie Women's Basketball broadcasts since. He has also helped with Men's Basketball and Softball.
Bret Dark
Women's Basketball | Color Analyst | A&M Radio Network
After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1989, Bret enjoyed a 12-year television career that took him to stations in Lufkin, Tyler, and Knoxville, Tennessee, where he was both a sports and news anchor.
Bret and his wife, Becky, have four children and reside in Bryan.
Dave Elmendorf
Football | Color Analyst | A&M Radio NetworkDave Elmendorf has served as analyst for Aggie Football since 1988. Elmendorf was the first-ever analyst of the Texas A&M Radio Network. Elmendorf, a 1971 graduate of A&M, spent several seasons in the NFL and was a part of Super Bowl XIV as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.
Elmendorf starred for Aggie baseball and football during his A&M career. He was named to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1997.
He was selected by the New York Yankees in the 1971 draft, but chose to go to the NFL instead. The Rams selected him in the third round of the 1971 draft. Elmendorf earned All-Rookie, All-NFC and Second Team All-Pro honors during his NFL career with the Rams.
Will Johnson
Football | Sideline Reporter | A&M Radio Network | Studio 12Will Johnson, Texas A&M class of 2001, serves as play by play announcer for Aggie Baseball and also assists with play by play duties for Aggie men's and women's basketball. Since 2012, he has been the sideline reporter for Aggie Football on the Texas A&M Radio Network.
Johnson also assists with the weekly Studio 12 radio show, which airs on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year.
Johnson has served in various roles for 12th Man Productions since joining the Texas A&M athletics department in 2001. Johnson has been host of coaches shows and was the weekly host of "The Beat: Texas A&M Athletics" for multiple years. He currently serves as writer and narrator of "The Pulse: Texas A&M Football", 12th Man Productions' award-winning weekly football show in the fall. Johnson has earned multiple Telly Awards and SVGA Awards, and he recently was awarded with a Lone Star Emmy for his work on "The Pulse".
Steve Miller
Women's Basketball | Color Analyst | A&M Radio NetworkSteve Miller has spent over 20 years broadcasting road women's basketball games for the Aggies. He also serves as host for the Coach Blair Weekly Radio Show.
Miller has worked in A&M Athletics for nearly 30 years. He is currently the Assistant Athletic Director for Events and External Services, a position he has held since 2012. In his current role, he assists with program scheduling for SEC Network produced content and also coordinates Texas A&M's bidding process for NCAA Championship events. He also oversees event management and has been tournament director for many post-season championship events.
Before transitioning to events, Miller also spent time as assistant media relations director at Texas A&M, working primarily with football, women's basketball and men's tennis.
Andrew Monaco
Football, Men's Basketball | Play-by-Play | A&M Radio NetworkAndrew Monaco took over as the voice of Aggie football and men's basketball in June of 2018. Monaco also hosts the coaches' shows for football and men's basketball while assisting with podcast content for the athletics department.
Prior to his arrival in College Station, Monaco was a broadcaster for the San Antonio Spurs for 11 seasons. During his time as a broadcaster in San Antonio, the Spurs won two NBA titles (2007 & 2014), three Western Conference titles (2007, 2013, 2014) and seven division titles (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017). Monaco served as play-by-play announcer, sideline reporter and host of Spurs Live during his tenure in San Antonio. He has also been the play-by-play voice of the San Antonio Stars of the WNBA and Orlando Magic of the NBA during his career.
He brings over 30 years of broadcasting experience to Aggieland.
Dave South
Baseball | Play-by-Play | A&M Radio NetworkDave South is the legendary voice of Texas A&M athletics, calling Aggie football, men's basketball and baseball games since 1985. South was the first-ever play-by-play voice of the Texas A&M Radio Network, which began in 1988.
South made 2017-18 his final year behind the microphone for football and men's basketball, but still handles radio play-by-play duties for Aggie baseball.
Dave was awarded with the 2018 NFF Chris Schenkel Award, which recognizes individuals who have had long and distinguished careers broadcasting college football for a specific university.
John Thornton
John Thornton serves as color commentator for Aggie Men's Basketball.
As a student-athlete at Texas A&M, Thornton played for two years under coach Shelby Metcalf. He was Southwest Conference Newcomer of the Year before becoming team captain on the 1975 SWC Championship team.
He spent time as graduate assistant and assistant coach for Aggie men's basketball and also holds three degrees from Texas A&M. Thornton also spent time as interim head basketball coach. He also served as Senior Associate Athletic Director and was interim Director of Athletics during his long tenure at A&M. He took over as Director of the Texas A&M Coaching Academy in 2012.
Thornton was a 2015 inductee to the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame.
Tom Turbiville
Women's Basketball | Play-by-Play | A&M Radio Network
Veteran broadcaster Tom Turbiville is starting his 17th season as the play-by-play voice of Texas A&M Women’s Basketball in 2019-20. Now retired as a full-time broadcaster, he spent 19 years as Sports Director and Morning Show co-host of the “Infomaniacs” on WTAW Radio in Bryan-College Station. He came to Bryan College Station in 1984 as Sports Information Director at Texas A&M, after spending seven year as assistant information director for the Southwest Conference Office in Dallas.
As a local broadcaster, Turbiville has also done play-by-play and analyst work for high school football and basketball, Texas A&M Baseball and he spent 11 seasons as the sideline reporter for the Texas A&M Football Radio Network. Besides his Aggie Women’s Basketball duties, he continues to call high school boys and girls basketball, football, baseball and softball for his own on-line broadcast company BCSBALL.COM.
Turbiville is a 23-time winner of Texas AP Broadcasters Awards and was voted Favorite Radio Personality three straight years by the Eagle’ Readers Poll. He and his wife Judy have 3 sons and six grandchildren. They
live in College Station.
