Please join us here at Texas A&M Athletics in celebrating some of the incredible student-athletes that have represented Aggieland. We'll share their stories throughout the month of March.
SHERRI BRINKMAN '86, Volleyball
One of the most dominating volleyball players to take the court in the Southwest Conference in her four seasons at A&M, Sherri Brinkman '86 was the first two-time All-American in Texas A&M volleyball history.
A four-time all-conference honoree, Sherri still holds four school records including hitting percentage and blocks.
In 1985, Brinkman played in the Junior Olympics in Japan and trained with the US national team in 1986. She was inducted into the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001.
SIMONE FACEY '08, Track & Field
Simone Facey lettered two years (2007-08) for Pat Henry's track & field team.
Facey played a huge role in establishing the Aggies as one of the dominant forces in the sport, beginning an historic run of conference and national titles for the program.
An 11-time All-American spanning five different events, she would lead Texas A&M to its first-ever Big 12 Conference indoor championships in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons. In addition, she would be part of Big 12 team outdoor titles in the same seasons as well.
Her leadership and on-field accomplishments would pave the way for the program's three straight national titles and six conference championships over the next three years (2009-11). She was inducted into the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
SARAH HENRY '15, Swimming
Sarah Henry was a four-year letterwinner that helped set the stage for a decade of dominance by the Aggies' women's swimming and diving program.
As a freshman, in A&M's final year in the Big 12, Henry and her teammates won the conference championship and followed that with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the second-highest showing in program history. She would follow by being a part of a school-record three consecutive fourth-place showings at NCAAs.
The All-American won the NCAA Championship in the 400 individual medley as a senior, while also finishing in the top four of three other events.
ASHLEY KNOLL '07, Golf
One of the most decorated golfers in school history, Ashley Knoll '07 made a big impact in her time with the Aggies.
A two-time All-Big 12 honoree, Ashley won six collegiate individual tournament titles, the most in school history. In addition, her career stroke average ranks in the program's top 10 all-time.
Ashley became the second two-time All-American in school history when she earned the accolades in back-to-back seasons in 2006 and 2007--making her the first to earn the distinction for the women's golf team in over a quarter century.
CRISTINA SANCHEZ-QUINTANAR '14, Tennis/Soccer/Basketball
The first three-sport female athlete at Texas A&M since the late '90s, Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar made an impact on the tennis, soccer and basketball programs.
In fact, she is the only female athlete in school history to play in the NCAA Tournament in three different sports.
Cristina saw her biggest impact in tennis, where she was a two-time All-American and helped lead the 2013 Aggies to an SEC divisional title and a trip to the national championship final. She was also the "Miss Aggie" award winner for Gary Blair's basketball team.
COURTNEY WALKER '16, Basketball
Courtney Walker is one of the greatest basketball players to put on an Aggie uniform.
She was the first three-time AP All-American, finishing her career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,989 points. Courtney was a part of four NCAA Tournament teams, including one trip to the Elite Eight, and won an SEC Tournament title in the Aggies' first year in the league (2013).
After completing her career in Aggieland, Courtney was selected 16th overall in the WNBA Draft, the second-highest selection in team history.
