Was put on scholarship the week prior to the seasonopener vs. SMU … contributed 27 tackles, including 17 solo stops while seeing action in all 13 games with three starts … a good pass rusher, Russell had three QB sacks for a loss of 23 yards and three QB pressures … had a season-high six tackles against Arkansas and five against Texas Tech.

2010 (SOPHOMORE)
Contributed four tackles while serving as a top backup at the "joker" position … saw action in eight games … had a careerhigh two tackles against Stephen F. Austin … had a memorable sack of mobile Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin in the Aggies' win.
