Brad Cornelsen enters his first seasons as an offensive analyst at Texas A&M after joining Coach Elko’s staff in January of 2026. Cornelsen brings with him more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 15 seasons as an offensive coordinator.
Cornelsen arrived in Aggieland after serving as the head coach at Enid High School during the 2025 season. He was the offensive coordinator at Sam Houston during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He helped guide the Bearkats through their transition to the FBS level and served as interim head coach for the 2024 New Orleans Bowl, leading Sam Houston to a postseason victory.
Prior to Sam Houston, Cornelsen spent six seasons (2016-21) as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Virginia Tech, where his offenses ranked among the school's most productive in recent history. Under his direction, the Hokies produced three of the top four total offense seasons in program history over a 25-year span while developing multiple all-conference quarterbacks.
Cornelsen previously worked alongside Texas A&M offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins at both Memphis and Virginia Tech. He joined the Memphis staff in 2012 as quarterbacks coach before being promoted to co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2015. That season, he helped lead the Tigers to a 9-4 record and mentored quarterback Paxton Lynch, a first-round NFL Draft selection and finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Before his tenure at Memphis, Cornelsen served as offensive coordinator at Northeastern State from 2009-11 after coaching stops at Oklahoma State and Illinois State. He began his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater, Missouri Southern State, before graduate assistant positions at Northeastern State, Northwest Missouri State and Oklahoma State.
A native of Texhoma, Oklahoma, Cornelsen was a four-year letterwinner and quarterback at Missouri Southern State from 1995-98 before earning his bachelor's degree from the university in 2000. He and his wife, Jaimi, have two children, Wyatt and Wynn.
Cornelsen is married to the former Jaimi Phelan of Watertown, Conn., and they are the parents of Wyatt and Wynn.
