Former Pomona College standout Alex Lloyd is in his second season on the Texas A&M basketball staff as the program’s video coordinator.
Lloyd brings strong NBA ties to Aggieland after spending two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, serving as both a player development assistant and a pro & college scout. Additionally, he has enjoyed two stints with the San Antonio Spurs organization, working as a basketball ops and player development intern in 2006-07 and a player development assistant in 2008-09.
The Burlington, Vt., native has also spent time on the coaching side during his professional career, working as an assistant for the NBA D-league’s Austin Toros from 2009-12. With the Toros, Lloyd served as the team’s offensive coordinator and helped guide the team to the league’s top rated offense en route to capturing the 2012 NBA-DL Championship.
Lloyd also brings international experience to the Aggie program, having worked with the Foshan Lions in Guangdong, China, during the summer of 2013 as well as with the Belize National Team during the summer of 2010.
As a collegiate student-athlete, Lloyd was a co-captain at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., where he was a four-time All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honoree as well as 2005 SCIAC Player of the Year. Lloyd finished his playing career ranking in Pomona’s all-time top 20 for points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.
Lloyd received his bachelor’s degree in politics from Pomona College in 2006 before going on to receive his masters of education in 2008. He and wife Rachel were married in August 2014.
In 2013, Lloyd was inducted into the Rice Memorial High School Hall of Fame.
