The Maroon & White have experienced loads of success in Fast’s first four seasons, winning 11 tournament titles. They boast four NCAA Championships appearances over the span and played in four SEC Championships semifinal rounds. Texas A&M produced seven All-Americans in his first four campaigns.
In 2024-25, Texas A&M won three tournament titles, including the Furman Intercollegiate, SeaBest Invitational and Aggie Invitational. The squad also finished as runner-up at the NCAA Auburn Regional, SEC Championship, Louisiana Classics and the Qubein Cup. Phichaksn Maichon won tournament trophies at the SeaBest Invitational and Aggie Invitational.
Under his tutelage, Maichon finished runner-up at the NCAA Championships, the highest finish in program history. Maichon earned Golfweek All-America First Team and PING All-America Second Team. Maichon, Wheaton Ennis and Michael Heidelbaugh nabbed PING All-Central Region recognition while Ennis claimed GCAA All-Freshman and SEC All-Freshman accolades.
The 2023-24 season featured four top-three finishes with a third consecutive win at Louisiana Classics. They also finished runner-up at the Aggie Invitational. Ol’ Sarge’s charges earned two individual titles with Maichon winning the Louisiana Classics by eight strokes with a tournament record 18-under 198 and Jaime Montojo earning his first career victory at the Aggie Invitational.
Two Aggies picked up PING All-America recognition with Maichon landing on the third team and Daniel Rodrigues earning honorable mention. Maichon, Montojo and Rodrigues earned PING All-Central Region Recognition. Maichon also gained All-SEC Second Team stature.
During the 2022-23 campaign, the Maroon & White rattled off four victories including the Badger Invitational, Blessings Collegiate Invitational, Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate and Louisiana Classics. Texas A&M also boasted four medalists on the year, including William Paysse (Badger Invitational), Rodrigues (Blessings Collegiate Invitational), Sam Bennett (John A. Burns Intercollegiate) and Maichon (Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational).
In postseason play, Texas A&M finished second in the stroke play portion of the SEC Championships before advancing to the semifinals of match play. The Aggies mounted an epic comeback to erase a 12-stroke deficit in the final round of the NCAA Regional to earn a championship bid with their fifth-place showing. Ol’ Sarge’s charges finished 13th at the NCAA Championships with Maichon leading the way in 11th place.
Along the way, Aggie golf received loads of recognition highlighted by All-American Sam Bennett earning the Silver Cup as the low amateur at the Masters Tournament.
Maichon and Rodrigues picked up PING All-America Honorable Mention accolades on the season. Bennett, Maichon, Paysse and Vishnu Sadagopan earned PING All-Central Region distinction. Bennett and Paysse garnered All-SEC recognition.
In his first year in Aggieland, the Maroon & White secured three tournament titles, including the Marquette Invitational, Louisiana Classics and the Aggie Invitational. A&M was also runner-up at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. In postseason play, the Aggies advanced to the semifinal round of the SEC Championships after placing second in stroke play and finished third at the Bryan Regional to earn an NCAA Championships spot. Bennett finished fifth at the SEC Championships and 10th at the NCAA Championships to kickstart his summer to remember.
The Aggies boasted a pair of PING All-Americans in 2021-22 with Bennett landing first-team honors and Walker Lee being named a third-teamer.
Texas A&M golf’s success carried into the summer with Bennett and Lee playing for Team USA at the Arnold Palmer Cup and Bennett put an exclamation point on the year by winning the 122nd U.S. Amateur Championship.
The Aggies also excelled in the classroom with Michael Heidelbaugh, Lee and Paysse earning Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Prior to arriving in Aggieland, Fast spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Houston men’s golf program. He helped lead the Cougars to eight top-five finishes during his tenure and guided Alexander Francis to the American All-Conference Team in 2020-21. The run was highlighted by Houston’s first tournament title in five years, winning a 2019 White Sands Invitational at Ocean Club which included the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country.
After graduating from Mississippi State in 2009 with a degree in general business administration, Fast began an award-winning professional career.
He played on the Gateway Tour in 2010 and the Hooters Tour in 2011-12 before joining the Web.com Tour in 2013.
As a professional, he competed in 88 Web.com Tour events during his career and was a PGA TOUR Qualifying School Second-Stage medalist in 2014 and 2015.
A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Fast was a four-year letterman at Mississippi State from 2005-09. He captured the 2006 Callis Communications Intercollegiate championship and was recognized as a Golf World National Golfer of the Week, the only one to garner the honor in program history.
Fast was a member of two NCAA Regional teams at Mississippi State and tied for 37th at the 2009 NCAA Austin Regional. He also competed in the 2008 NCAA Championships, marking the last time the Bulldogs have played in the national championship tournament until 2023.
As a prep star at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Fast was a three-time Mississippi State High School individual champion and an AJGA All-American.
