2016-17 (Junior)
- Earned first-team All-America honors in the 200 breaststroke after placing third in the race at the NCAA Championships. It was the highest individual finish by a Texas A&M swimmer since Riley Janes placed second in the 100 backstroke at the 2000 NCAA meet.
- Also earned honorable mention All-American in the 100 breaststroke (10th placed) and with the 200 medley relay (10th)
- Set school records in the 100 breaststroke (52.12), 200 breaststroke (1:52.01) and the 200 IM (1:44.12), as well as with the Aggies’ 200 medley relay (1:23.91) and 400 medley relay (3:07.16)
- At the SEC Championships, Castillo was ninth in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. Also swam the breaststroke legs on the Aggies’ 200 medley relay (3rd) and 400 medley relay (6th)
- At the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, China, Castillo advanced to the semifinals of the 200 breaststroke and also saw action in the 50 breast and 100 breast
2015-2016 (Sophomore):
- At the SEC Championships, Castillo placed third in the 100 breaststroke, sixth in the 200 breast and 18th in the 200 IM
- Set school record and posted a NCAA “B” qualifying cut at in 100-yard backstroke (52.65) at the SEC Championships
- Honorable mention All-America honors for 200-breast
- Voted most valuable swimmer
- Posted NCAA “B” qualifying time while breaking school record in the 200-yard breaststroke at NCAA meet (1:54.35)
- Swam season best and NCAA “B” qualifying cut in 200 IM at the SEC Championships
- Earned four victories in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season best of 53.03
- Placed first in 200-yard breast in eight meets
- Saw action at the national meet in both the 100 and 200 breast and the 200 IM

2014-2015 (Freshman):
- Enjoyed three second-place finishes in his native country at the Mexican National Championships in the 100 back (1:03.55), 50 breast (29.00), and 200 breast (2:16.39)
- Represented host country Mexico at the Central American and Caribbean Games where he swam the A-Final 50 breast in 29.02
- Carved out his place as a breaststroke expert for the Aggies, never placing out of the top five in any event leading up to the SEC championships and placing first in eight combined breaststroke events
- Set team bests in the 100 breast (53.78) and 200 breast (1:55.65) in the meet against LSU, the latter breaking an A&M record, both NCAA ‘B’ cuts
- Placed fourth in the A-Final 200 breast at the American Short Course Championships (1:57.44)
- Member of two of the fastest A&M relay teams of the season, the 200 medley (1:27.34) and 400 medley (3:10.64), both at the SEC Championships.
