- An excellent student, Long was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society and was a two-time Scholastic All-American
- Competed for SwimMAC Carolina for 10 years and was coached by Alan Pfau
- Was on SwimMAC’s national team in 2013 and 2014 and was a part of the 200 free relay national record (age 15-16)
