Saw a stretch in three consecutive meets against Alabama, SMU, and LSU where he missed the podium only once in 6 total freestyle events, a fourth place finish in the 200 free against Alabama… set a personal best in the 200 free (1:36.41) and swam on the season’s best Aggie 800 free relay team (6:24.65) at the SEC Championships for NCAA ‘B’ cuts.
 
Funk helped to set the new school record as a member of the 800 free relay team at the SEC Championships. Funk swam anchor on the relay, which finished 6th for a new A&M record of 6:21.20. Individually, Funk swam a personal best in the 200 free, posting an NCAA ‘B’ time of 1:37.39 for the ninth fastest time in school history. Competed in the 22nd place 800 free relay at the NCAA Championships.
2012-2013 (Freshman)
Solid first season posting best times in the 50 free (22.37), the 100 free (45.93), and the 200 free (1:39.46).
High School/Club:
2012 graduate of Klein High School in Spring, Texas ... four-time district gold medalist and two-time regional medalist and a state medalist for the bearcats ... four-year letterwinner at Klein ... holds a school record for the 200 free of 1:34:37, his personal best ... also competed for the PACK club team, coached by Mike McCauley, for six years.

Hunter Michael Funk is the son of Mike and Dianne Funk of Spring, Texas ... born January 16, 1994 in Spring, Texas ... life science major ... has one younger sibling: Morgan Funk ... two of his uncles attended Texas A&M ... says he chose A&M “because of the traditions.”
