2017 (JUNIOR): Appeared in 10 games off the bench recording three hits and an RBI … Hit .300 and helped the Aggies to a 9-1 record in her appearances … Notched a pinch-hit RBI single against No. 23 BYU (2/25) … Had a career high in ABs against Prairie View A&M and came around to score after a single (3/22).
2016 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in eight games, drawing three walks and scoring twice … Scored one of the five runs in the seventh inning of the Aggies’ comeback victory against New Mexico.
2015 (FRESHMAN): A regular off the bench as one of the Aggies’ top pinch runners … Saw action in 22 games … Scored 8 runs and added two hits … Hit a home run against Illinois State in her first career at bat.
Previous Athletic Background: Houthoofd (pronounced OTT-off) was a four time First Team All District honoree at Barbers Hill High School … Started her career at BHHS as the District 19-4A Newcomer of the Year and the BHHS defensive MVP … As a junior, was the District 19-4A Offensive MVP and the BHHS offensive MVP, helping her team to their third consecutive Regional quarterfinal appearance … Was an All Greater Houston Preseason 1st Team selection as a senior and helped her team advance to the State Semi Final game in Austin … Named to the TWSA All State team, KHOU11 Athlete of the week, and won the BHHS Leadership Award for the second time in her four year career … Was a Cum Laude graduate (ranked 20th in her class), a three time Academic All District honoree, and an Academic All-State selection her senior season … Ranked in the Top 100 softball players in the Class of 2014, by Studentsports.com … Played with the Texas Impact Gold for two years, taking second at ASA 18 Gold Nationals in 2012 and 3rd in 2011, along with second and third place finishes at the Colorado 18 Gold Fireworks … Played her final two seasons of Gold softball for Texas Aces Express, with whom she placed fifth at ASA 18 Gold Nationals and won the Triple Crown Texas State Championship … Also lettered in volleyball.
Personal: Erin Lyn Houthoofd was born October 26, 1995 to Jamee and Cathy Houthoofd of Beach City, Texas ... The first-generation Aggie is a University Studies-Sports Conditioning major with plans to work as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach after graduation ... Enjoys reading in her spare time ... Chose Texas A&M because “it feels like home, and I fell in love with the tradition. This university has a contagious spirit and it makes me feel special to be a part of so much history” ... Was a member of the National Honor Society, FCA and won Best of Show at the 2013 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo in art.
