2016-17 (REDSHIRT SENIOR): Went 19-14 overall in doubles to finish 94-50 in her career, ranking fifth in the A&M all-time records for most career doubles victories…Went 14-9 in dual matches only, having teamed with juniors Tina Bokhua and Macarena Olivares early in the season…Paired with senior Saska Gavrilovska in the last half of the SEC season and went 4-1 in league play at the No. 3 position...Closed out the SEC regular season riding a five-match win streak, including a 6-1 victory over 90th-ranked Marta Gonzalez and Mariana Gould in the Aggies’ first-ever victory over No. 2 Georgia to close out the regular season...Went 6-6 overall, including 4-3 in dual matches only...Played all but one match at the No. 6 line…Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for a fourth consecutive year and was an ITA Scholar Athlete for the second time.
2016 FALL RESULTS: Returned to the court after missing the spring season following shoulder surgery…Went 2-3 in singles and 5-4 in doubles, having paired with seniors Rutuja Bhosale and Saska Gavrilovska, as well as junior newcomer Tina Bokhua.
2015-16 (SENIOR):
Entered the spring No. 11 in the ITA Texas Region singles rankings…Did not compete in the spring season while recovering from a shoulder surgery in December…Despite inactive, remained the 2016 team leader in career singles victories (65-41) and doubles victories (75-36)…Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for a third consecutive year and the SEC Community Service Team for a second consecutive year…Graduated in August 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in human resource development and a minor in business.
2015 FALL RESULTS: Entered the fall No. 107 in singles and 14th in doubles with senior Ines Deheza in the ITA preseason national rankings…Finished the fall 5-5 in singles and 8-3 in doubles, tying for the second most doubles victories on the team…Opened the fall by going 3-0 with sophomore Eva Paalma at the Under Armour/HEB Kickoff at Baylor…Paired with Deheza for the remainder of the fall and went 5-3…In her first match with Deheza, defeated 22nd-ranked Gabriella Castaneda and Emily Fanning of Florida State in the first round of the main draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships…The tandem reached the quarterfinals at the USTA/ITA Texas Region Championship and finished the fall by going 2-1 at the SMU Red & Blue Challenge.
2014-15 (JUNIOR):
Named to the SEC Community Service Team...Finished the season with a 60-36 career record in singles, marking the most career wins and the most matches played amongst players on the 2014-15 team…Went 16-11 overall in singles…Was 8-7 in dual matches only, including 5-4 in SEC matches while seeing action at the Nos. 5 and 6 lines...Went 2-0 in A&M’s NCAA tournament matches, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Aakanaksha Punj of Alcorn State in the opening round…Ended the season with a 2-3 record against ranked opponents...Highest ranked win was against No. 88 Simona Parajova of TCU at the ITA Texas Regional in the fall...In doubles, went 16-10 overall, including 10-7 in dual matches and 5-3 in SEC matches only…Was No. 37 in the final ITA doubles rankings with junior partner Ines Deheza after having reached a season-high No. 16 with Deheza on March 24…Was No. 5 with Deheza in the final ITA Texas Region rankings…Went 2-4 against nationally ranked opponents, teaming with Deheza for wins against No. 10 Ema Burgic and Blair Shankle of Baylor on March 19 and No. 16 Silvia Garcia and Kennedy Shaffer of Georgia on March 1...Longest doubles win streak of the spring was six matches, which included wins with Deheza, Anna Mamalat and Eva Paalma.
2014 FALL RESULTS: Posted a 6-3 ledger in singles, including 2-0 against ranked opponents…Won three consecutive matches at the Texas Regional to reach the round of 16 before retiring…Went 4-2 in doubles with three different partners…Was 2-2 with Rutuja Bhosale…The pair was seeded eighth at the ITA Texas Regional Championships and won two matches before falling to Aggie teammates and top-seeded Ines Deheza and Rachel Pierson in the quarterfinals.
2013-14 (SOPHMORE):
Ranked No. 16 in the final ITA doubles rankings with senior Cristina Stancu, setting the Texas A&M record for the second consecutive year for highest final doubles ranking…Also was No. 1 in the final ITA Texas Region doubles rankings…The pair, which was ranked as high as No. 12 (April 22) during the regular season and was an all-time high No. 8 (Sept. 6) in the ITA fall preseason rankings, received an at-large berth to the NCAA Doubles Championship for the second consecutive year...Fell in the first round, 6-3, 7-6 (4), to 25th-ranked Masa Grgan and Abigail Tere-Apisah of Georgia State…Teamed exclusively with Stancu and finished the year 24-9 overall…Was 6-9 against ranked opponents, including 4-5 against ranked foes in dual matches only…Highest ranked win was an 8-6 victory against No. 19 Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger of Auburn on April 6… Posted a 13-5 ledger in dual matches only – all at the No. 1 line -- including a 7-1 mark in SEC matches only…Longest win streak of the spring was six matches (Feb. 9-March 22)…Had entered the spring ranked 22nd in the nation in doubles, as well as No. 2 in the Texas Region preseason doubles rankings (Jan. 2)…In singles, entered the spring No. 17 in the ITA Texas Region singles rankings…Went 19-14 overall in singles, including 14-8 in dual matches while seeing action at the Nos. 3-6 positions…Posted a 6-4 record in SEC matches only...Was named to the NCAS National Academic Momentum Award second team, recognizing the student-athlete’s academic improvement, and also was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
2013 FALL RESULTS: Entered the fall ranked eighth in the nation in doubles with Stancu…Paired exclusively with Stancu and went 10-5 in doubles, including 2-3 against ranked opponents…Highest ranked win of the fall was an 8-5 victory over No. 24 Marija Milutinovic and Caroline Rohde-Moe of Ole Miss in the round of 16 of the main draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships…The Aggie pair reached the finals of the ITA Texas Regional for the second consecutive year…Received an at-large bid to compete at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championship in doubles…Was the doubles champion at the USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney…Went 4-4 in singles.
2012-13 (FRESHMAN):
The lefty was a mainstay in the Aggies’ lineup in both doubles and singles throughout her rookie campaign…Played doubles with fellow countrywoman Cristina Stancu and was named to the NCAA Championship all-tournament team at the No. 1 line…The duo also received an at-large bid to the 32-team NCAA Doubles Championship, where the Aggies fell to ninth-ranked Hermon Brhane and Whitney Ritchie of Oklahoma in the first round, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4…The A&M tandem was ranked as high as a school-record No. 7 in the nation in doubles in the preseason and regular season rankings and finished the season No. 17, then a school record-high for a final doubles rankings…Also was No. 2 in the final Texas Region doubles rankings…Hristov led the team in doubles victories with a 27-12 overall record, which included a 22-11 overall record with Stancu…Went 14-7 in dual matches, including 13-7 with Stancu – 11-7 at the No. 1 line and 2-0 at No. 2…The pair went 6-8 against ranked opponents, including four top-10 victories…Posted an 8-3 victory against eighth-ranked Kristie Ahn and Nicole Gibbs of Stanford in the national championship match, marking her highest ranked win in dual match play…In singles, was 25-11 overall, ranking second on the team for most wins…Was 19-5 in dual matches, going 4-4 at No. 5 and 15-1 at No. 6…Went 7-4 in SEC singles matches and was a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week…Longest win streak was six…Finished the season on a five-match win streak, including three wins in NCAA tournament play…In A&M’s NCAA second-round match against No. 29 TCU, overcame a 5-0 first-set deficit to defeat Federica Denti, 7-6 (4), 6-0, to clinch the point that sent the Aggies on to the Round of 16…Clinched the Aggies’ winning point in four matches overall.
2013 FALL RESULTS: Led Texas A&M in doubles victories with a 12-2 record…Opened the fall season going a combined 5-1 with partners Wen Sun and Anna Mamalat before pairing with Stancu in the third tournament of the season, the ITA Texas Regional…The Romanian duo reeled off six consecutive victories, including a 9-7 victory over sixth-ranked Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo of Texas Tech in the round of 16, en route to the ITA Texas Regional championship and an automatic berth to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships…Hristov and Stancu finished the fall season 8-1, including 2-1 against ranked opponents…Hristov was 5-4 in singles matches, including 1-2 against ranked opponents…Her first ranked singles win was a 6-4, 6-0 victory over No. 109 Jordaan Sanford of Baylor in the second round of the Texas Regional…Entered the spring ranked No. 1in the Texas Region in doubles and No. 15 in the region in singles.
PREVIOUS ATHLETIC BACKGROUND: Competed in numerous ITF tournaments…Reached the singles finals at the Plantation (Fla.) ITF in May 2012…Also in 2012, reached the semifinals at the Cop Milo tournament in Santiago, Chile, and made quarterfinal appearances at the Delray Beach ITF and the Uruguay Bowl…In 2010, she advanced to the semifinals in singles at both the Kentucky International Tennis Derby and the ITF Ukrzakhid…In doubles, reached the finals at the Wichita Falls ITF and the semifinal round at both the Atlanta ITF and the Instiriq Cup in 2011…Her most memorable moment came at a hometown tournament, the $10,000 Iasi, in which she eventually reached the quarterfinals after posting a first round upset over the No. 5 seed Tereza Malikova, a Czechoslovakian who was No. 678 in the WTA world rankings. “It was the last tournament before I came to college and everybody (newspapers, TV, people) was asking me about college,” Hristov said.
PERSONAL: Stefania Hristov is the daughter of Adrian and Elena Hristov of Iasi, Romania…Has an older brother, Andrei…Is the first person in her family to attend college in the USA…Began playing tennis when she was 6 years old…Left home when she was 16 to go to Florida and train with Gabriel Trifu…Was finishing 10th grade when she left Romania and entered 12th grade upon arrival to the U.S…Her only official recruiting visit was to Texas A&M, and she described it as, “After the first day, I knew that this is where I wanted to study and play. I was really impressed with the tennis facilities and the coaches, how they treat the girls on the team and the attention they have. Also the campus and the classes impressed me a lot”…Most memorable moment of college career is playing against Stanford in the finals of the 2013 NCAA Championship as a freshman…Hobbies include reading, traveling, listening to music and watching movies and TV shows…Is fluent in Romanian, English and French and understands Spanish and Italian…Is a member of the Public Service Organization at the Bush School and is a former member of the Student Athlete Academic Council (SAAC)…Has volunteered at the Brazos Valley Food Bank and assisted with Aggies CAN food drive…Received a bachelor’s degree in human resource management in August 2016…Is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration and government with a minor in human resource management…Born September 16, 1994, in Iasi, Romania.
