2015 – Indoors: Ran a world-leading time of 45.78 to win the 400m at the Texas A&M Quadrangular, the second fastest time recorded indoors for a dual, triangular or quadrangular meet that only trails a 45.74 recorded by teammate Deon Lendore in 2014 … Anchored the Aggies to victory in the 4x400 relay at the Quadrangular with a split of 46.11 as A&M posted a time of 3:07.28 to defeat Texas Tech (3:08.55) … Posted a time of 20.80 in the 200m for second place at the Texas A&M Team Invitational to open the indoor season.
2014 – Missed the indoor season as he continued to rehab from an injury during the 2013 outdoor season … Ran unattached in the 400m at the Texas State Bobcat Classic in late April, clocking a time of 45.97 … It was his first race since March of 2013 at USC … In the prelims of the SEC Championships in Lexington, Kentucky, Taplin posted a time of 46.06 and finished fourth in the final with a 45.66 … Ran opening leg of 4x400 relay that set a SEC Championship record of 3:01.19 in its victory … Equaled his career best of 45.36 during the NCAA West Preliminary round in Fayetteville, Arkansas … Then improved his personal best to 45.18 in the NCAA quarterfinal, which was the top time advancing to the NCAA Championships from the West region … Taplin also supplied a 44.92 relay split on the third leg of A&M’s 3:01.42 that led both regions … Finished third in his NCAA semifinal heat in Eugene with a time of 45.81 … Ran third leg of NCAA Champion 4x400 relay in 44.31 as the Aggies clocked 2:59.60, the second fastest collegiate time ever that missed the collegiate record by 0.01 of a second … Competed in Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland, for Grenada, running 45.90 in prelims and 46.68 in the semifinals … Finished second in the NACAC 400m held in Kamloops, Canada, with a 45.52 after clocking 45.62 in the prelims.
2013 – Won the B section of the 400m with a time of 47.50 at the USC Trojan Invitational in mid-March … Ran on pair of 4x400 relay efforts that won at Arizona State Castillo Invitational (3:06.44) and USC (3:07.36) … An injury to his left leg caused him to miss remainder of the season.
Indoors: Won the 400m in 46.85 at the Texas A&M Invitational … Ran opening leg of 4x400 victory during Texas A&M Challenge (3:06.61) and second leg of winning crew at Texas A&M Invitational (3:07.77) … Part of fourth-place 4x400 squad during NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas as Aggies ran 3:07.03.
2012 – Competing for South Plains Junior College won NJCAA title in 400 meters with a 46.00(A) in Levelland, Texas … Set a then career best of 45.36 for third place at Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas … Also placed third with a then PR of 45.89 during the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas … Won the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock with a 46.06 … Indoors, posted a 47.09 at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville … Also clocked 10.53(A) and 20.88(A) at Springtime Invitational in El Paso, Texas and posted a 20.88 for runner-up in 200m at Noble Relays in San Angelo, Texas … Part of 4x400 crew that won NJCAA title in 3:05.99(A) … Also ran on 4x100 squad that finished second in NJCAA Championships with a 39.94(A) … South Plains 4x400 ran a best of 3:01.32, with Taplin on anchor leg, to win Red Raider Invitational and they claimed the college division of Texas Relays in 3:05.17.
2011 – First season at South Plains Junior College resulted in a runner-up finish at the NJCAA in the 400m with a personal best time of 46.79 in Hutchinson, Kansas … Also posted a 46.85 for second place at Texas Tech Open … Indoors, finished third in NJCAA 400m with a 47.63 on Lubbock’s oversized track.
High School – Won the 2010 Texas 5A State title in the 400m with a 47.03 … As a junior in 2009, finished third in Texas 5A State final with a 47.28 behind Kyle Clemons (46.35) and Sheroid Evans (47.18).
