Thomas Dick is in his eighth year as Assistant Communications Director at Texas A&M University. He handles media relations and sports information duties for the Aggie baseball and soccer teams.
During his tenure at Texas A&M, Dick has overseen the publicity efforts for teams that have participated in the College World Series (2017) and the College Cup (2014). He also spearheaded the rise of the wildly successful @AggieBaseball and @AggieSoccer Twitter accounts.
Dick arrived at Texas A&M after a six-year stint as Assistant Media Relations Director at the University of Texas from 2006-12. He spent his entire tenure as the baseball contact, as well as one year as the women’s soccer contact and five years as the secondary contact for men’s basketball and editor of the football yearbook and game programs. He made two CWS appearances with the Longhorns (2009 & ’11) and directed Taylor Jungmann’s successful Dick Howser Trophy campaign.
A local legend on the Jersey Shore, Dick spent six years as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Monmouth University from 2000-06. He was the primary contact for nine sports with the Hawks, including football, men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse.
Dick cut his teeth in athletic media relations with an internship at UNC Wilmington in 1997-98 and earned his first full-time appointment at New Mexico State University from 1998-2000.
A native of Amherst, Ohio, Dick earned his bachelor’s degrees in business and physical education from Baldwin-Wallace College. He secured a master’s degree in athletic administration from Georgia Southern University and served as an assistant logistics director at the Omni Coliseum and Georgia Dome for the Atlanta Committee to Organize the Games during the lead-up and completion of the 1996 Olympic Games.
Dick, along with Evan Roberts of the Athletics Communications department, hosts the world-famous NASCAR podcast, Loose Lugnuts.
Dick is renowned for his expertise on all things barbecue, Americana and bread pudding. An avid reader of history books, he has polished off over 90 books since January 2015. A marathoner, he completed the Waco Miracle Match Marathon in January 2013, finishing eighth in his age group. A “Domer”, Dick has visited 31 state capital buildings on his quest to knock out all 50. He is also engrossed in an effort to become a “High Pointer”, traversing to the highest point in eight of the 50 states. His proudest endeavor is having reached 47 of the 92 locations Johnny Cash and Hank Snow mention in the song ‘I’ve Been Everywhere.’
