Earned All-America honors with the Aggies’ 200 medley relay and competed in the 500 free (18th), 100 breaststroke and 200 breast at the NCAA Championships ... at SECs, McMahon placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke, ninth in the 200 breast and 14th in the 500 free, and she helped the Aggies’ 200 medley relay to a runner-up finish … had season bests of 4:41.07 in the 500 free, 1:00.41 in the 100 breast, 2:12.31 in the 200 breast, 1:59.11 in the 200 fly and 1:59.43c in the 200 IM, which were all NCAA “B” cuts.
2014-2015 (Sophomore)
Finished in either first (five times) or second (three times) in her first eight events during the first three meets of the season… saw heavy action at the Art Adamson Invitational, setting a team best in the 200 fly (1:57.53) and recording personal bests in the 500 free (4:44.57) and 200 IM (1:57.27)… enjoyed at least one first-place victory in every meet following the AAI leading up to the SEC Championships… a meet against LSU saw McMahon on the top podium in all four events she undertook: the 400 medley relay (3:39.70), 100 breast (1:01.05), 200 breast (2:12.34), and 200 IM (2:00.13)… set a season best in the 100 breast (59.93) and helped the Aggies to a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:36.22) at the SEC Championships, the Aggies’ fastest time in the event all season, good enough for an NCAA ‘A’ cut ... Swam a handful of events for Ireland at the World University Games in South Korea, including a 31.84 effort in the semifinals of the 50 back… swam the 200 free, 50 breast, and 200 IM for Ireland at the FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Had an explosive first season, jumping straight into the record books. The SEC Championships, McMahon swam the 100 breast in 59.35 to become the second fastest Aggie in the event in history, she went on to swim the 200 breast in 2:10:48 for the fourth fastest all-time swim, and finally, McMahon swam the 200 IM in 1:58.08 to rank 10th on the all-time record book. McMahon garnered four NCAA ‘B’ cuts over the season including three at the SEC Championships. At SECs, McMahon scored 43 individual points with a fourth place finish in the 100 breast and a 10th place finish in the 200 IM. McMahon tallied a ‘B’ time standard in a dual meet against Georgia early in the season in the 400 IM (4:17.57). At the NCAA Championships McMahon competed in the 100 breast (1:00.29) as well as the 200 breast where she lowered her personal best to 2:09.72 and the 200 IM, lowering her best to 1:57.71. In the all-time standings, McMahon ranks second (100 breast), fourth (200 breast) and 10th (200 IM) as a freshman ... Represented Northern Ireland as the leadoff in the 4x100 relay at the Commonwealth Games during the summer.
High School/Club:
2013 graduate of Stratheran School Belfast … an excellent student studied four Advanced-Levels and 10 General Certificates of Secondary Education (GCSEs) …also involved as a peer mentor … competed for the Leadner ASC club team under coach Bobby Madine for 7 years … Also represented Ireland at the 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona competing in the 200 IM, 200 free and 100 free.
