STOIANA IN THE RECORD BOOK
AT TEXAS A&M
2023-24 (JUNIOR)
Concluded her third year in the Maroon & White leading the Aggies in both singles and doubles wins… Forged a record of 38-4 in singles, matching her win count from last season which ranks as the fourth highest in program history… Her 90.5 winning percentage was the highest among all ranked players in the nation… In doubles with Mia Kupres she concluded the year 28-7 leading A&M from court 1… Stoiana secured 44 ranked wins throughout the season, with 26 coming in singles and 18 in doubles… Stoiana became the first player in program history to be ranked No. 1 in the ITA singles rankings, receiving the rank November 15th and remained at the top through the final release of the year on May 29th… In doubles her and Kupres ended the year No. 3 in the country after being in the rankings all season… Stoiana was the SEC’s singles win leader, boasting an 11-1 record and also securing a 6-1 record in doubles play with Kupres. She received her second-consecutive SEC Player of the Year honor for her performance and was named All-SEC First Team… In the NCAA postseason, Stoiana claimed the clinching point in A&M’s upset win at North Carolina, snapping a six-year home win-streak for the Tarheels and punching the Aggies third-straight trip to the Elite 8… With the final three rounds on deck, Stoiana continued to dominate, leading the team to its first national title and securing NCAA Tournament MVP, All-Tournament Team for singles and All-Tournament Team for doubles… Stoiana continued her postseason as she reached the NCAA Tournament singles semifinals and quarterfinals in doubles, earning All-America honors in both… Her year concluded with her becoming the first player in program history to be name ITA National Player of the Year and then being named the Honda Award winner for tennis.
2022-23 (SOPHOMORE)
Stoiana followed up her stellar freshman year once again topping the Aggies in singles wins... She boasted a record of 38-6 in, the fourth highest win count in a single season in program history... In ranked matchups she picked up 21 wins, including eight in the top 25 and a highlight win coming against Georgia's No. 3 Lea Ma... In doubles she held a record of 28-4 across four partners (Jayci Goldsmith, Gianna Pielet, Carson Branstine and Mia Kupres)... 12 of Stoiana's doubles wins were in ranked matches, with her standout match coming with Branstine over Ohio State's No. 11 Sydni Ratliff/Irina Cantos Siemers... Following her standout SEC campaign where she finished 11-0 in singles and 9-1 in doubles, she was named SEC Player of the Week a conference record seven times, earned a spot on the All-SEC First Team and was the first Aggie awarded SEC Player of the Year... She finished the year ranked both No. 2 in the nation in singles and doubles, which earned her the No. 2 overall seeds in the NCAA Individual Championships, securing her ITA All-American honors in both disciplines.
2021-22 (FRESHMAN)
Finished her freshman season as the winningest singles athlete on the A&M roster, publishing a 34-4 mark overall… Was 14-2 against nationally ranked opponents in her inaugural season… Played all but four dual matches at the No. 3 singles position, going 23-2 in that spot… Boasted a 27-2 record in dual match singles… Clinched ten total matches in 2022, including A&M’s win on the road at Arkansas to secure the outright SEC Regular Season Title… Defeated No. 40 Dasha Vidmanova to notch A&M’s seventh point in the sweep of No. 7 Georgia… Became only the second player in program history to garner four SEC Freshman of the Week accolades in a single season, joining Aggie great Saska Gavrilovska… Logged the clinch win in the SEC Tournament Championship match against Georgia… Landed a spot on the All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Freshman Team at the conclusion of the season… Held a 28-5 overall doubles record with a 25-3 mark in dual match play… Won alongside six different partners and earned at least one win at every doubles position… Was 21-3 when playing with Carson Branstine.

Mary Stoiana was born in Southbury, Connecticut, in the spring of 2003 to Val Stoiana and Kathleen Morrone… She has one brother, Nicolas Stoiana, and a sister named Charlotte Morrone… Stoiana is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the Mays School of Business and expects to graduate in the spring of 2025… Her career ambition is to continue her tennis career on the professional circuit upon graduation… In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, shopping, spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends.
