Lance Troester joined the Texas A&M Athletics Department in September of 2021 and serves as an Assistant Athletics Director in Compliance. He is the compliance lead for Aggie men’s basketball, overseeing issues brought forward by the NCAA, interpreting NCAA and SEC rules and maintaining the institution’s compliance monitoring program.
His primary responsibilities include compliance monitoring and education to ensure that NCAA, Southeastern Conference and institutional rules are being complied with and that the established policies and procedures are engaged and functioning. Troester is responsible for maintaining continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable rules and regulations, establishing and maintaining communication regarding rules and regulations concerning all aspects of collegiate athletics.
Troester comes to Texas A&M from Oklahoma State University, where he served as an Assistant Athletics Director for Men’s Basketball from 2017-20. While at OSU, Lance was also Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance, overseeing the institution’s Office of Athletics Compliance. He got his start at Oklahoma State as a Compliance Coordinator, where he monitored procedures in recruiting activities, reviewed and approved team travel expenses and provided various resources to student-athletes and staff.
The Garnavillo, Iowa, native earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in 2002. He then accepted a position as Assistant Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at Florida State University, going on to earn his master’s degree in 2005. He served as a Graduate Assistant in the compliance office for Florida State Athletics while completing his graduate coursework.
In his spare time, Troester enjoys golfing, traveling, and going to concerts. He and his wife, Jamie, have a daughter, Lillian.
