Rick Karasch joined the Athletics Department in July 2025 and serves as Assistant Athletics Director for Strength & Conditioning. He is responsible for the oversight and development of Texas A&M's Strength and Conditioning staff as well as sport, position, and individual-specific delivery of strength and conditioning services for all varsity student-athletes (with the exception of football). In addition, Karasch represents his unit on the Athletic Department's Performance & Wellness Leadership Team.
Karasch came to Aggieland after spending the previous 12 years as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Rice University. During his tenure with the Owls, Karasch contributed to 22 conference championship seasons and directed the development of 10 All-Americans—including five in baseball—and 32 MLB Draft picks.
Karasch employs a holistic and integrated approach rooted in sports science that incorporates strength and power training, energy system development, and movement training to enhance athletic abilities respective to each sport. His philosophy focuses heavily on designing player development plans based on sport and individual profiles.
Prior to Rice, Karasch served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports at Scottsdale Community College. While at SCC, he oversaw 17 Olympic sports and worked directly with a baseball program that reached the NJCAA World Series Final Four in 2007 and finished as runner-up in 2009. His early career included stops as the Director of Performance at Triple Threat Performance in Scottsdale, a Sports Performance internship at Arizona State under Joe Kenn, and as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Karasch is a 2005 graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. He earned a Master of Science in Human Movement from A.T. Still University in 2010. He holds certifications from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS, RSCC), USA Weightlifting, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and Functional Range Systems (FRC).
He and his wife, Martha, have four daughters: Madeleine, Emily, Gabriella, and Natalie.
