Roger Schoppe has spent nearly three decades with Texas A&M University, and has been an integral staff member at Reed Arena since 2001. He now serves as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations, with focus on Reed Arena, the Paup Aquatic Center and the Wahlberg Golf Learning Center.
In his time with the Athletics Department, he has been a leader in energy conservation efforts and obtained countless achievement awards and certificates. Roger has a wealth of knowledge in all things HVAC, general maintenance, and facility operations. Roger knows the ins-and-outs of all aspects of Reed Arena and his historical knowledge is a such that he could write a book. He has mentored hundreds of student workers over the years and been an everlasting role model in their lives all while being a major fixture of support for all TAMU Athletics faculty and staff.
Roger was born and raised in Snook before coming to Texas A&M. Like his German ancestors and many others from Snook - he is well known for his competition winning chili and his expert cooking skills. He also enjoys spending time gardening building and working on his property out in Benchley where he, his wife, three children, and grandson live with their many rescue animals. His wife Megan also works at Texas A&M at the College of Medicine in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
When Roger isn't working at Reed or at home, he volunteers his time to veterans and children with special needs in our community through his role as the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of The BPOE Bryan Elks Lodge. Roger is a lifelong Aggie, here to stay, known for his Farmers Fight and loyalty to the Maroon and White. Like the Aggie War Hymn, Roger is Rough Tough Real Stuff, Real Texas A&M. Gig'em.
