Kyle Sunderland

TitleSports Scientist

Kyle Sunderland joined the Texas A&M Athletics Department in June 2026 and currently serves as a Sports Scientist. He is a Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

In his role, Kyle provides Sports Science support for the Baseball, Softball, Men's Tennis, and Women's Tennis programs. He works closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic performance staff to evaluate athlete readiness, monitor training loads, and assess performance throughout the competitive season. His work helps coaches and support staff make informed decisions that optimize performance while supporting the long-term development and well-being of Texas A&M student-athletes.

Prior to joining Texas A&M, Kyle served as an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Lindenwood University, where he developed applied sports science initiatives in collaboration with the athletics department. His research focused on athlete monitoring, workload management, recovery, and performance testing, with an emphasis on translating research into practical strategies that supported coaches, practitioners, and student-athletes. He also mentored undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in sports science and human performance.

Kyle earned his BS in Kinesiology and MA in Kinesiology from California State University, Fresno, and his PhD in Health and Exercise Science from the University of Oklahoma. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at regional and national conferences, with an emphasis on translating sports science research into practical applications for coaches and practitioners.
