Matt Lindholm of Georgetown, Texas, and Dwayne Morley of Houston have signed national letters-of-intent to play college golf at Texas A&M, Aggies coach Bob Ellis said Monday.
Lindholm is ranked as the No. 32 junior player in the country in the latest Golfweek/Titleist Junior Rankings. He won the 1997 regional championship as a sophomore at Georgetown High School and has won a variety of other high school and junior events, including the 1998 AJGA Oklahoma Junior. He was also recruited by Texas and New Mexico.
"Matt is an outstanding junior player, one of the best in the nation," Ellis said. "We are thrilled to have him join our golf program. He is an excellent student and individual and we look for great things out of him."
Morley finished fifth at the 1998 Class 5A State Championship as a junior at Stratford High School in Houston, where he won the district title and placed second at regionals. He tied for fifth at the 1998 Texas State Junior and has won several high school and junior events. He was also recruited by Texas and Houston.
"Dwayne has really come on strong in the last year," Ellis said. "He has a tremendous desire to play the game and wants to excel. That's a great trait to have. We look forward to him being a part of our team."
