Dylan Osean hit two crucial 3-pointers - one to tie the game in regulation and another to keep his team ahead in overtime - as Tulane defeated Texas A&M 64-60 Wednesday night.
Tulane (6-1) trailed through most of the game, was behind by six at the half and trailed by as much as 10 in the second half. But Osean's late three-pointer with 2:50 left, the last score from the field in regulation, tied the score at 49.
Carlton Brown hit a free throw for the Aggies (2-3), then Sterling Davis hit one for the Green Wave to send the game into overtime 50-50.
Davis opened overtime with two quick scores and Tulane never trailed again, although A&M's Bernard King made it close. His first of three three-pointers in OT made it 54-53. Osean followed with a three-pointer of his own, but King answered with another and it was 57-56. A Davis layup for Tulane gave the Green Wave three-point lead, then King tied it up at 59 with his third and last three-pointer of the night.
From then on, Tulane's tight man-to-man defense held the Aggies to one more point while Davis hit two free throws, Morris Jordan hit one and Osean wrapped up the victory for Tulane with two more.
Davis led Tulane with 22 points while Osean had 14. Jamaal Gilchrist led the Aggies with 12 points and eight rebounds, while King and Larry Scott each added 11 points.
