Postgame Quotes
Texas A&M head coach Melvin Watkins: "It was good to see him (Bernard King) have a game like that. He's worked hard on it to get out of that slump. He makes a lot of other things happen on the floor. It does open some things up. We like to get more inside touches. When he's hitting like that, you have to extend your defense. (On Carlton Brown) He's being a senior. He's playing with a lot of confidence right now. The rebounding thing ?" I hope he keeps it going. He is an X-factor for this team. That was a happy locker room in there. The guys felt good about their play."
Texas A&M guard Bernard King: "I've been working on my game. It feels good to have a game like this. My shot is finally falling. That's what we've been waiting for. It leaves our inside game open. When we're making our shots, I don't think anybody can stop our offense. We realized after the Birmingham-Southern game we have to play every night and practice every day. We're getting more and more confidence."
Texas A&M forward Carlton Brown: "We seem really focused now. We're looking forward to a better season ahead. Lamar was a good team. This win gives us a lot of momentum going into North Carolina. They're a great team and we'll need our ?˜A' game against them."
Lamar head coach Mike Deane: "A&M played exceptionally well. It was good to see Bernard get back on track. Unfortunately it was against us. They are a much-improved team with a lot of young players. A&M is headed in the right direction. We were out-talented, out-hustled and out-played. They shot particularly well. We're still struggling, but we're capable of playing better than that. It's just going to take some time. A&M hadn't shot well against the zone defense, but they did tonight. This is the least competitive we've played. We didn't have a hard time getting shots, we just had a hard time making them."
