Bernard King had 30 points and 10 rebounds and Texas A&M hit 11 of 12 free throws in overtime as the Aggies ended a five-game losing streak with an 83-76 victory over Nebraska Saturday afternoon.
King became the first freshman in Big 12 history to score 30 or more points three times in a season and broke the Big 12 and Texas A&M freshman season scoring records. King finished with 468 points. The previous record was 447, set by Iowa State's Marcus Fizer in 1997-98.
Texas A&M (8-19, 4-12) hit 15 of 24 shots for a 41-34 halftime lead.
Nebraska (11-18, 4-12) hit just 4 of 20 from 3-point range, but held the Aggies to 38 percent shooting in the second half to force overtime. The Cornhuskers made just one of eight shots in overtime.
Texas A&M attempted only two shots in overtime -- making one -- but hit its first 10 free throws. The Aggies hit 12 of 21 free throws in regulation.
Larry Florence led Nebraska with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists. Louis Truscott added 14 points and eight rebounds.
King's four 3-pointers gave him 79 for the season, tying the Big 12 freshman single-season record set last year by Kansas' Jeff Boschee.
