
Terry Nichols Funeral Arrangements

Funeral services have been set for Terry Nichols, the Texas A&M junior defensive lineman, who was killed in a car accident in El Paso on Saturday, May 27.
Viewing will be from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at the Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso, TX 79904 (Phone 915-755-4494). A memorial service will be held at the Fort Bliss Chapel #1 at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 1.
Several members of the Aggie football team along with members of the Texas A&M coaching staff and administration will attend the service in El Paso.
The Aggie football team will hold a private memorial service later this week.
Head Coach R.C. Slocum and several members of the team will fly to Norfolk, Virginia, for burial services on Monday. The Metropolitan Funeral Home, 122 E. Berkeley, Norfolk, Virginia 23523 (Phone 757-543-1859) will handle arrangements in Virginia. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the St. Thomas Zion Church at 1700 Melon St. in Norfolk. Burial will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park at 1101 Campostella Rd. in Chesapeake, Virginia.
"This is very, very hard for any family and our football team is a family," Slocum said. "He was well respected and this is a terrible tragedy. We're still in shock. Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents and family."
Nichols had earned two football letters as a defensive lineman and was competing for the left defensive end position. He recorded seven tackles last season and had 22 stops as a redshirt freshman in the 1998 Big 12 Championship season. He started the 1998 Oklahoma State game and responded with five tackles. He came to Texas A&M in the fall of 1997 after playing at El Paso Irvin High School where he played tight end and defensive end. He was an All-City and All-District performer. Nichols was born March 2, 1979 and is the son of Terry and Garland Nichols.
