
A&M Rallies to Beat Lamar, 77-74

Texas A&M's Andy Leatherman hit his only 3-pointer of the game with just more than a minute left, lifting the Aggies to a 77-74 victory over the Lamar Cardinals Saturday before 4,105 fans at the Montagne Center.
Tyler Hackstadt's 3-point shot gave Lamar (0-2) a 74-73 lead with 1:30 left.
Leatherman, who missed his other three 3-point attempts, gave A&M (2-0) a 76-74 lead on the next possession.
Bradley Jackson hit a late free throw to finish the scoring.
Lamar led 60-51 with 10 minutes remaining in the game when the Cardinals went cold and hit only one field goal in the last 10 minutes.
Bernard King scored 28 points and grabbed six rebounds to pace the Aggies. Leatherman added 10 points.
Damany Hendrix led Lamar with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Jo Adande scored 15 for the Cardinals, who led 39-35 at halftime.
A&M returns to action Monday when they host Texas-A&M Kingsville. Tipoff at Reed Arena is set for 7 p.m. (CST).
