The Texas A&M women's golf team carded an opening round of 295 on Monday and is in fifth place at the Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic at the Menifee Lakes Country Club.
Monday's afternoon round was postponed because of darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning.
No. 19-ranked UCLA, the tournament host, leads the 18-team field after firing an opening round of 291, followed by No. 21 Oklahoma (292), Pepperdine (292), No. 3 USC (293), A&M (295), New Mexico (296) and California (297).
Nevada's Angie Yoon is the individual leader after firing a four-under-par 68. A&M was led by senior Marta Ostos and junior McKenzie Dyslin, who each carded a 73 and were tied for 11th place. Junior Jennifer Cates is tied for 24th with a 74, senior Mimi Epps and freshman Mira Bendevis are tied for 33rd with a pair of 75s and junior Anna Jonsson, competing as an individual, is tied for 43rd with a 76.
