The Texas A&M men's golf team closes its fall schedule at the Barona Collegiate Cup Monday and Tuesday at Barona Creek Golf Club.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday for a 54-hole total. The Aggies are coming off a second-place finish at the Adams Cup of Newport on Oct. 9 in Newport, Rhide Island, A&M's best tournament finish in three years.
In addition to A&M, the 16-team field includes No. 6-ranked New Mexico, Ohio State, San Diego State, BYU, California, Colorado State, Denver, Fresno State, Hawaii, Louisville, Nevada, Texas-El Paso, Texas-San Antonio, North Carolina-Greensboro and Washington State.
Representing A&M will be juniors Stephen Reed and David Tasker, senior Shaun Helmle, freshman Andrew Parr and sophomore Tyler Garrett.
"This tournament will be one of our biggest challenges this fall," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We'll be competing against mostly West coast teams and we'll have to play terrific golf to get a high finish. We've played a lot of different players this fall and our young guys have learned what it takes to compete at this level. That has been a really positive aspect of our fall season."
