Texas A&M basketball player Jesse King was found not guilty of child rape charges on Wednesday by a Worcester, Mass., jury.
"We knew all along that Jesse was not guilty of these charges and we?re glad it was proven through the justice system," Watkins said. "We're pleased he can now put this behind him and move on with his academic and basketball career. Jesse is solid young man and we look forward to him returning to school as soon as possible."
A 6-foot-7 sophomore forward from Detroit, Mich., King will not play in Wednesday night's game against Nebraska, the third game he's missed since the trial began on Feb. 12. He has started in 15 of his 20 games this season, averaging 6.8 points and 3.1 rebounds. King was named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll last spring.
