
Aggies in 15th Place at Border Olympics

The Texas A&M men's golf team carded rounds of 300-293=593 on Friday and is in 15th place at the 51st Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club. The tournament concludes with a final 18 holes on Saturday.
Baylor leads the team standings after posting a 12-under-par total of 280-284=564, four strokes ahead of second-place Louisiana-Lafayette (568) and San Diego State (568). Defending champion New Mexico is in fourth at 573, followed by Texas Tech (577), Colorado State (578), Arkansas (580), Pepperdine (580), Texas-San Antonio (583), Central Florida (584), Lamar (584), Central Oklahoma (584), Sam Houston State (586), Texas-Arlington (586), A&M (593), Rice (594) and Texas-Pan American (621).
Baylor's Jamie McLeary (65-71=136) and Louisiana-Lafayette's Orn Hjartarson (70-66=136) share the individual lead, two strokes ahead of the rest of the field on the par 72, 7,125-yard golf course.
Freshman Rand Arbuckle was the one bright spot on Monday for the Aggies. After opening with a 77 in the morning round, Arbuckle bounced back with a career-best 68 in the afternoon and is tied for 22nd with a 145 total.
Also for A&M, sophomore Stephen Reed is tied for 50th at 75-74=149, senior Sean Gilliland is tied for 59th at 71-79=150, sophomore Parker Briley is tied for 67th at 78-73=151 and freshman Tyler Garrett is tied for 82nd at 77-78=155.
Competing as individuals for A&M, junior Dwayne Morley is tied for 36th at 76-70=146, sophomore Mark Schultz is tied for 72nd at 76-76=152 and senior Shaun Helmle is alone in 84th at 79-77=156.
